Checking the fee structure of an MBBS course is an obvious thing to do as soon as you list down some of the universities. When you choose a university you will come across tuition fees of about 15 Lakhs to 30 Lakhs. Some of the top universities may also cost 40 Lakhs for the whole course. While selecting universities, make sure the degrees are recognised by NMC (National Medical Council) and WHO (World Health Organization).
Medium of Instruction
Before applying to any university, make sure the medium of instruction is English. Some universities may have bilingual language courses. Or a requirement for a language certificate before getting admission. For example, countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia etc. have a lot of English MBBS universities. And no IELTS certificate is required for admission. But Kazakh or Russian may be taught to you in the final course to help communicate with the patients.
Cost of Living
Your cost for studying MBBS abroad does not only cover the universities but also food and living. For the initial first year, students will be provided with accommodation and food. But from the second year onwards, students have the liberty to live outside the campus. This is when the cost of living may add up. No matter which country you go to, there will be neighbourhoods dedicated to the student crowd. The universities also provide student identity or ISIC card which enables various discounts.
Duration of the Course
The duration of the medical course in India is 5 years. So while checking for a medical course abroad, you must check the duration of the course and if an internship is included. There are several countries that have a 6-year MBBS course. And some countries like Kazakhstan have MBBS courses for 5 years including an internship. So it is always good to complete the same course earlier and be ahead of the rest of the students.
